For those of you keeping track...

Here are the resignations on the Atlantic District so far this year. This is everything since last Beulah so some of the positions have probably already been refilled or eliminated (ie the two at Moncton). This also includes pastors who have agreed to candidate somewhere which around here generally implies they will be moving but technically is not the same a resigning (ie the other two at Moncton). A typical year on the district as of late has seen about 5 resignations total (staff and Sr) and this year we are already up to 19. Why do I say already? Because usually this stuff doesn’t even start happening until the first week of March and it’s only February so I think we can expect some more. There are many questions that this anomalous year raises. Why so many transitions? Why so early in the year? And perhaps most importantly will this create the much anticipated window of opportunity for the beloved McDowell to finally come back home?

Now, just for the record--I'm 'technically' resigned, but don't have any intentions of leaving, nor do we want to. I guess it's up to the new guy coming in, but I'm just going to bank that the new guy wants us. Hopefully.
-Mark (I know it says I'm Liz but I was too lazy to sign out and then sign in again)

Crazy. I've been keeping track from IMA, but other than at Hillside I'd forgotten about the whole 'senior pastor resigns, assitant pastors resign automatically' thing.

It's an exciting year... :) I'm enjoying it.

As for speculations on the reasons, I would say that it has something to do with the fact that the past few years have been pretty quiet and this is all just overdue routine stuff. For the most part. I don't mean "overdue" in the sense that they should have left sooner, just statistically overdue given what is "normal" compared to the past few years.

Or maybe God just wants to shake things up a bit. I dunno.

If you want to add to your list to Include changes, two new staff positions at Sussex, 2 Transitions at BBC, New position at Woods Harbour, your plant. Any others?

We're still looking for someone to plant a church in Dark Harbour as well. Robbie knows the area well...

Could the openings at Moncton be a sign that hurd should return home bringing along his beautiful new daughter and supremely more gifted wife. Oh right you probably need that whole experience thing. That close.

Some would argue that a death wish is also in order.

I miss our musings. you always being right, me getting frustrated at you, you telling me I can wait, me asking if I've wronged you.

you suggesting something and no one moving a muscle. me suggesting the same thing 10 min later and everyone jumping up and acting like I just had the most brilliant idea ever. That's probably my favorite. That and you in our room in your boxers eating a sub when we came in at curfew. Good times.

I had forgotten that one you glory swiping bastard. I still have plenty of good ideas. They all go in that dorky little blue youth file we had to make. I'm not grown up enough to have a filing cabinet. BY the way maybe you can tell me some things I might need to get experience in to help land a job in YM. I met with the Greater Ohio dbmd on saturday and while they seemed impressed they were not able to actually evaluate because I don't have a title or job at a church. any imput would be welcome and then I could pass the ideas off as MY own.

not much to say - just that it is good to hear Hurd's "voice". It makes me feel, well, I'm not sure what - it just makes me feel something.

Hurd,
If your looking to get experience see if you can get a "title" at the church. Even if it is volunteer. Pastor of bulletins or something in the youth ministry there.

As far as Robbie planting a church in Dark Harbour, it has me thinking.

To add to Anonymous, there's our two new positions at Metro, and Harbour Welseyan planted this year, so their 6 people are technically new as well.

The times, they are a changin.
