I hurt. My Right toe sends a shooting pain up the top of my foot when I bend it, my left knee feels like it was the recipient of a bad tackle yesterday. My pecs feel like the are constantly flexed and my upped back is stiff. The bones of my spine have a dull ache and my neck just plain hurts. I also have a slight headache. What have I been doing? Petty much nothing. I blame some of my issues on my mac book. I will probably need to find someway to use it that doesn’t leave me hunched over all the time. I blame some of my issues on laying in bed to much over my vacation and taking sedentary to a whole new level. The toe is one of the permanent effect of gout. Yea for chronic pain at 29. The knee is an absolute mystery. I’m sure it will loosen up as the day goes on but it is weird.
On an unrelated note I have decided that Mark Driscoll of Mars Hill Church in Seattle is my favorite Reformed preacher and I would take him over Rob Bell any day. Of course there are a lot of guys I would take over Rob Bell any day. Ok, I have a confession to make – I’m not really into Rob Bell. I liked Velvet Elvis although when I learned that a lot of his “brilliant cultural insights” were not actually correct it took a bit of the shine off. And I get bored listening to him preach. What I like about Driscoll is that he just preached the straight up truth without all the “let me show you a neat trick I can do with greek” and “I am an expert in Jewish culture so I know what Jesus really meant” that and Rob Bell’s bread and butter. I think Rob Bell appeals to churchy people because he has something fresh (weather true or not) to say. I think Mark Driscoll appeals to people who want to hear the straight up truth of scripture served up with a side of funny.
My phone doesn’t work with my Mac. Grrrrrrrr.

Good to know!
Did you try Missing Sync software for your phone/mac?
We went to Mars Hill last night and heard Mark preach. It was good. We'll probably tell you about it when we get home so I won't bother trying to share it with you here but suffice to say that it was very good.
BLASPHEMER! Actually, interesting post. I'll be checking out Driscoll, does he have a podcast?
Also, where did you find that "a lot of his “brilliant cultural insights” were not actually correct"? I'd like to look into that.
Amen.
I have the same question as Elliott.
check out Ben Witherington's thought's on Rob here:

He is a world class biblical schollar and (I think) a professor at Asbury.
And another:

I would say just google him but you are bound to get a bunch of angry fundamentalists (is there another kind?) who would have him hanged along with Bill Hybels and Erwin mvMannus
My NT seminary prof as well said that Bell was off on quite a bit of his Jewish culture as well in his teaching.
Driscoll is AMAZING. He totally won me over after reading his book, "Confessions of a..." If you haven't read it, you need to. Good stuff.
To Elliot and Liz:
Part of Bell's problem that Witherington and some others (like Scot McKnight) point out is that he interprets NT and what's worse, OT, passages in light of rabbinic literature which is 2nd century. he is also off on his teaching that so many 1c. religions believed in resurrection. Christianity's (and parts of Judaism's) belief in a resurrection is a bodily--full-blooded resurrection, which is different from simply surviving death of the body in some way.
Of course, Bell still does have lots of good stuff to say and does have some excellent insights and the church he pastors does some amazing kingdom work. Witherington and McKnight both mention this stuff, even along with their criticisms.
AJ: I will check out Driscoll.
AP - Thanks for the further insights. Driscoll is cool but prety straight up reform in his theology. Mars Hill is a cool chrcuh though and one that I have been watching closely as I plant.
My issue with Mars Hill is their attitudes towards women. It isn't very compatible with the first denomination to ordain a woman in our country. I have half wanted to move back home and help with their new Bellevue campus that they're going to open later this year, but as I talk to my friends who all have gone to the church, I just don't think I can agree with their theology.
I don't think that they've quite got the best model there is, but I think they kick serious bum. Their worship was the most amazing I've heard in forever, and their strategic vision for reaching the city and not just building their own church has really got me thinking.
